The Refuge, River, And Rock Of The Church Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI JKDK LMLN OPOP

He who on earth as man was knownA
And bore our sins and painsB
Now seated on th' eternal throneA
The God of glory reignsB
-
His hands the wheels of nature guideC
With an unerring skillD
And countless worlds extended wideC
Obey his sovereign willD
-
While harps unnumbered sound his praiseE
In yonder world aboveF
His saints on earth admire his waysE
And glory in his loveF
-
His righteousness to faith revealedG
Wrought out for guilty wormsH
Affords a hiding place and shieldG
From enemies and stormsI
-
This land through which his pilgrims goJ
Is desolate and dryK
But streams of grace from him o'erflowD
Their thirst to satisfyK
-
When troubles like a burning sunL
Beat heavy on their headM
To this almighty Rock they runL
And find a pleasing shadeN
-
How glorious he how happy theyO
In such a glorious friendP
Whose love secures them all the wayO
And crowns them at the endP
