The Power And Triumph Of Faith Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHGHII JKJKLL MNMOPQ RSRSRR TUTUVV

Supported by the wordA
Though in himself a wormB
The servant of the LordC
Can wondrous acts performD
Without dismay he boldly treadsE
Where'er the path of duty leadsF
-
The haughty king in vainG
With fury on his browH
Believers would constrainG
To golden gods to bowH
The furnace could not make them fearI
Because they knew the Lord was nearI
-
As vain was the decreeJ
Which charged them not to prayK
Daniel still bowed his kneeJ
And worshiped thrice a dayK
Trusting in God he feared not menL
Though threatened with the lion's denL
-
Secure they might refuseM
Compliance with such lawsN
For what had they to loseM
When God espoused their causeO
He made the hungry lions crouchP
Nor durst the fire his children touchQ
-
The Lord is still the sameR
A mighty shield and tow'rS
And they who trust his nameR
Are guarded by his pow'rS
He can the rage of lions tameR
And bear them harmless through the flameR
-
Yet we too often shrinkT
When trials are in viewU
Expecting we must sinkT
And never can get throughU
But could we once believe indeedV
From all these fears we should be freedV
