The Meal And Cruse Of Oil Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGHG IJIJ KLKL MHMH NONP

By the poor widow's oil and mealA
Elijah was sustainedB
Though small the stock it lasted wellC
For God the store maintainedB
-
It seemed as if from day to dayD
They were to eat and dieE
But still though in a secret wayD
He sent a fresh supplyE
-
Thus to his poor he still will giveF
Just for the present hourG
But for tomorrow they must liveH
Upon his word and powerG
-
No barn or storehouse they possessI
On which they can dependJ
Yet have no cause to fear distressI
For Jesus is their friendJ
-
Then let not doubts your mind assailK
Remember God has saidL
The cruse and barrel shall not failK
My people shall be fedL
-
And thus though faint it often seemsM
He keeps their grace aliveH
Supplied by his refreshing streamsM
Their dying hopes reviveH
-
Though in ourselves we have no stockN
The Lord is nigh to saveO
His door flies open when we knockN
And 'tis but ask and haveP
