The Lord Is My Portion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFH IJIJ KLKL MNMN

From pole to pole let others roamA
And search in vain for blissB
My soul is satisfied at homeA
The Lord my portion isC
-
Jesus who on his glorious throneD
Rules heav'n and earth and seaE
Is pleased to claim me for his ownD
And give himself to meE
-
His person fixes all my loveF
His blood removes my fearG
And while he pleads for me aboveF
His arm preserves me hereH
-
His word of promise is my foodI
His Spirit is my guideJ
Thus daily is my strength renewedI
And all my wants suppliedJ
-
For him I count as gain each lossK
Disgrace for him renownL
Well may I glory in his crossK
While he prepares my crownL
-
Let worldlings then indulge their boastM
How much they gain or spendN
Their joys must soon give up the ghostM
But mine shall know no endN
