The Joy Of The Lord Is Your Strength Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHG IJIJ KLKL MNMN

Joy is a fruit that will not growA
In nature's barren foilB
All we can boast till Christ we knowA
Is vanity and toilB
-
But where the Lord has planted graceC
And made his glories knownD
There fruits of heavenly joy and peaceE
Are found and there aloneD
-
A bleeding Saviour seen by faithF
A sense of pard'ning loveG
A hope that triumphs over deathH
Give joys like those aboveG
-
To take a glimpse within the veilI
To know that God is mineJ
Are springs of joy that never failI
Unspeakably divineJ
-
These are the joys which satisfyK
And sanctify the mindL
Which make the spirit mount on highK
And leave the world behindL
-
No more believers mourn your lotM
But if you are the Lord'sN
Resign to them that know him notM
Such joys as earth affordsN
