The Hiding Place Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL MNMNOPQP

See the gloomy gath'ring cloudA
Hanging o'er a sinful landB
Sure the Lord proclaims aloudA
Times of trouble are at handB
Happy they who love his nameC
They shall always find him nearD
Though the earth were wrapped in flameC
They have no just cause for fearD
-
Hark his voice in accents mildE
O how comforting and sweetF
Speaks to every humble childE
Pointing out a sure retreatF
Come and in my chambers hideG
To my saints of old well knownH
There you safely may abideG
Till the storm be overblownH
-
You have only to reposeI
On my wisdom love and careJ
Where my wrath consumes my foesI
Mercy shall my children spareJ
While they perish in the floodK
You that bear my holy markL
Sprinkled with atoning bloodK
Shall be safe within the arkL
-
Sinners see the ark preparedM
Haste to enter while there's roomN
Though the Lord his arm has baredM
Mercy still retards your doomN
Seek him while there yet is hopeO
Ere the day of grace be pastP
Lest in wrath he give you upQ
And this call should prove your lastP
