The Believer's Safety Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEF GHIH JKLM NONO PQQQ RSRS TUTV

Incarnate God the soul that knowsA
Thy name's mysterious powerB
Shall dwell in undisturbed reposeA
Nor fear the trying hourB
-
Thy wisdom faithfulness and loveC
To feeble helpless wormsD
A buckler and a refuge proveE
From enemies and stormsF
-
In vain the fowler spreads his netG
To draw them from thy careH
Thy timely call instructs their feetI
To shun the artful snareH
-
When like a baneful pestilenceJ
Sin mows its thousands downK
On every side without defenceL
Thy grace secures thine ownM
-
No midnight terrors haunt their bedN
No arrow wounds by dayO
Unhurt on serpents they shall treadN
If found in duty's wayO
-
Angels unseen attend the saintsP
And bear them in their armsQ
To cheer the spirit when it faintsQ
And guard the life from harmsQ
-
The angels' Lord himself is nighR
To them that love his nameS
Ready to save them when they cryR
And put their foes to shameS
-
Crosses and changes are their lotT
Long as they sojourn hereU
But since their Saviour changes notT
What have the saints to fearV
