Simon beware the Saviour saidA
Satan your subtle foeB
Already has his measures laidC
Your soul to overthrowB
-
He wants to sift you all as wheatD
And thinks his vict'ry sureE
But I his malice will defeatD
My prayer shall faith secureE
-
Believers tremble and rejoiceF
Your help and danger viewG
This warning has to you a voiceF
This promise speaks to youG
-
Satan beholds with jealous eyeH
Your privilege and joyI
He's always watchful always nighH
To tear and to destroyI
-
But Jesus lives to intercedeJ
That faith may still prevailK
He will support in time of needJ
And Satan's arts shall failK
-
Yet let us not the warning slightL
But watchful still be foundM
Though faith cannot be slain in fightL
It may receive a woundM
-
While Satan watches dare we sleepN
We must our guard maintainO
But Lord do thou the city keepN
Or else we watch in vainO
