Saturday Evening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEFEGG HIHIJJ KLKLMN OPOPQR

Safely through another weekA
God has brought us on our wayB
Let us now a blessing seekA
On th' approaching Sabbath dayB
Day of all the week the bestC
Emblem of eternal restC
-
Mercies multiply'd each hourD
Through the week our praise demandE
Guarded by Almighty pow'rF
Fed and guided by his handE
Though ungrateful we have beenG
Only made returns of sinG
-
While we pray for pard'ning graceH
Through the dear Redeemer's nameI
Show thy reconciled faceH
Shine away our sin and shameI
From our worldly care set freeJ
May we rest this night with theeJ
-
When the morn shall bid us riseK
May we feel thy presence nearL
May thy glory meet our eyesK
When we in thy house appearL
There afford us Lord a tasteM
Of our everlasting feastN
-
May thy Gospel's joyful soundO
Conquer sinners comfort saintsP
Make the fruits of grace aboundO
Bring relief for all complaintsP
Thus may all our Sabbaths proveQ
Till we join the church aboveR
