Sampson's Lion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHJ KLAL MNMN

The lion that on Sampson roaredA
And thirsted for his bloodB
With honey afterwards was storedA
And furnished him with foodC
-
Believers as they pace alongD
With many lions meetE
But gather sweetness from the strongD
And from the eater meatE
-
The lions rage and roar in vainF
For Jesus is their shieldG
Their losses prove a certain gainF
Their troubles comfort yieldG
-
The world and Satan join their strengthH
To fill their souls with fearsI
But crops of joy they reap at lengthH
From what they sow in tearsJ
-
Afflictions make them love the wordK
Stir up their hearts to prayerL
And many precious proofs affordA
Of their Redeemer's careL
-
The lions roar but cannot killM
Then fear them not my friendsN
They bring us though against their willM
The honey Jesus sendsN
