Plenty In A Time Of Dearth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB BBBB CDDD BEBE FGFG BHBI JBJB

My soul once had its plenteous yearsA
And throve with peace and comfort filledB
Like the fat kine and ripened earsA
Which Pharaoh in his dream beheldB
-
With pleasing frames and grace receivedB
With means and ordinances fedB
How happy for a while I livedB
And little feared the want of breadB
-
But famine came and left no signC
Of all the plenty I had seenD
Like the dry ears and half starved kineD
I then looked withered faint and leanD
-
To Joseph the Egyptians wentB
To Jesus I made known my caseE
He when my little stock was spentB
Opened his magazine of graceE
-
For he the time of dearth foresawF
And made provision long beforeG
That famished souls like me might drawF
Supplies from his unbounded storeG
-
Now on his bounty I dependB
And live from fear of dearth secureH
Maintained by such a mighty friendB
I cannot want till he is poorI
-
O sinners hear his gracious callJ
His mercy's door stands open wideB
He has enough to feed you allJ
And none who come shall be deniedB
