Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CDCDD EDFDD GDGDD HIIII GIGII DIDII DDDDD JKJKL

Jesus Christ the Lord's anointedA
Who his blood for sinners spiltB
Is the Stone by God appointedA
And the church is on him builtB
He delivers all who trust him from their guiltB
-
Many eyes at once are fixedC
On a person so divineD
Love with aweful justice mixedC
In his great redemption shineD
Mighty Jesus give me leave to call thee mineD
-
By the Father's eye approvedE
Lo a voice is heard from heav'nD
Sinners this is my BelovedF
For your ransom freely givenD
All offences for his sake shall be forgivenD
-
Angels with their eyes pursued himG
When he left his glorious throneD
With astonishment they viewed himG
Put the form of servant onD
Angels worshipped him who was on earth unknownD
-
Satan and his host amazedH
Saw this stone in Zion laidI
Jesus though to death abasedI
Bruised the subtle serpent's headI
When to save us on the cross his blood he shedI
-
When a guilty sinner sees himG
While he looks his soul is healedI
Soon this sight from anguish frees himG
And imparts a pardon sealedI
May this Saviour be to all our hearts revealedI
-
With desire and admirationD
All his blood bought flock beholdI
Him who wrought out their salvationD
And enclosed them in his foldI
Yet their warmest love and praises are too coldI
-
By the eye of carnal reasonD
Many view him with disdainD
How will they abide the seasonD
When he'll come with all his trainD
To escape him then they'll wish but wish in vainD
-
How their hearts will melt and trembleJ
When they hear his aweful voiceK
But his saints he'll then assembleJ
As his portion and his choiceK
And receive them to his everlasting joysL
