None Upon Earth I Desire Besides Thee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCDCD EBEBFGFG BHBHIGJK LMLMFNFN

How tedious and tasteless the hoursA
When Jesus no longer I seeB
Sweet prospects sweet birds and sweet flow'rsB
Have lost all their sweetness with meB
The mid summer sun shines but dimC
The fields strive in vain to look gayD
But when I am happy in HimC
December's as pleasant as MayD
-
His name yields the richest perfumeE
And sweeter than music his voiceB
His presence disperses my gloomE
And makes all within me rejoiceB
I should were he always thus nighF
Have nothing to wish or to fearG
No mortal so happy as IF
My summer would last all the yearG
-
Content with beholding his faceB
My all to his pleasure resignedH
No changes of season or placeB
Would make any change in my mindH
While blessed with a sense of his loveI
A palace a toy would appearG
And prisons would palaces proveJ
If Jesus would dwell with me thereK
-
Dear Lord if indeed I am thineL
If thou art my sun and my songM
Say why do I languish and pineL
And why are my winters so longM
O drive these dark clouds from my skyF
Thy soul cheering presence restoreN
Or take me unto thee on highF
Where winter and clouds are no moreN
