My Name Is Jacob Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FFGG HHEE IJKK LLMM FFNN

Nay I cannot let Thee goA
Till a blessing thou bestowA
Do not turn away thy faceB
Mine's an urgent pressing caseB
-
Dost thou ask me who I amC
Ah my Lord thou know'st my nameD
Yet the question gives a pleaE
To support my suit with theeE
-
Thou didst once a wretch beholdF
In rebellion blindly boldF
Scorn thy grace thy pow'r defyG
That poor rebel Lord was IG
-
Once a sinner near despairH
Sought thy mercy seat by prayerH
Mercy heard and set him freeE
Lord that mercy came to meE
-
Many years have passed since thenI
Many changes I have seenJ
Yet have been upheld till nowK
Who could hold me up but thouK
-
Thou hast helped in every needL
This emboldens me to pleadL
After so much mercy pastM
Canst thou let me sink at lastM
-
No I must maintain my holdF
'Tis thy goodness makes me boldF
I can no denial takeN
When I plead for Jesu's sakeN
