Men Honoured Above Angels Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DDEE FFGG HHIJ KKLL MMNO PPGG

Now let us join with hearts and tonguesA
And emulate the angels' songsB
Yea sinners may address their KingC
In songs that angels cannot singC
-
They praise the Lamb who once was slainD
But we can add a higher strainD
Not only say He suffer'd thusE
But that he suffer'd all for usE
-
When angels by transgression fellF
Justice consign'd them all to hellF
But Mercy form'd a wondrous planG
To save and honour fallen manG
-
Jesus who pass'd the angels byH
Assum'd our flesh to bleed and dieH
And still he makes it his abodeI
As man he fills the throne of GodJ
-
Our next of kin our Brother nowK
Is he to whom the angels bowK
They join with us to praise his nameL
But we the nearest int'rest claimL
-
But ah how faint our praises riseM
Sure 'tis the wonder of the skiesM
That we who share his richest loveN
So cold and unconcern'd should proveO
-
Oh glorious hour it comes with speedP
When we from sin and darkness freedP
Shall see the God who died for manG
And praise him more than angels canG
