When Israel was from Egypt freedA
The Lord who brought them outB
Helped them in every time of needA
But led them round aboutB
-
To enter Canaan soon they hopedC
But quickly changed their mindD
When the Red Sea their passage stoppedE
And Pharaoh marched behindD
-
The desert filled them with alarmsF
For water and for foodG
And Amalek by force of armsF
To check their progress stoodH
-
They often murmured by the wayI
Because they judged by sightJ
But were at length constrained to sayI
The Lord had led them rightJ
-
In the Red Sea that stopped them firstK
Their enemies were drownedL
The rocks gave water for their thirstK
And Manna spread the groundL
-
By fire and cloud their way was shownM
Across the pathless sandsN
And Amalek was overthrownM
By Moses' lifted handsN
-
The way was right their hearts to proveO
To make God's glory knownM
And show his wisdom pow'r and loveP
Engaged to save his ownM
-
Just so the true believer's pathQ
Through many dangers liesR
Though dark to sense 'tis right to faithS
And leads us to the skiesR
