Balaam's Wish Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHJ KLKM NONP

How blest the righteous areA
When they resign their breathB
No wonder Balaam wished to shareC
In such a happy deathB
-
Oh let me die said heD
The death the righteous doE
When life is ended let me beD
Found with the faithful fewE
-
The force of truth how greatF
When enemies confessG
None but the righteous whom they hateF
A solid hope possessG
-
But Balaam's wish was vainH
His heart was insincereI
He thirsted for unrighteous gainH
And sought a portion hereJ
-
He seemed the Lord to knowK
And to offend him lothL
But Mammon proved his overthrowK
For none can serve them bothM
-
May you my friends and IN
Warning from hence receiveO
If like the righteous we would dieN
To choose the life they liveP
