At The Close Of The Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI JKJK LMLN OPQR STST UVUV

Let hearts and tongues uniteA
And loud thanksgivings raiseB
'Tis duty mingled with delightA
To sing the Saviour's praiseB
-
To him we owe our breathC
He took us from the wombD
Which else had shut us up in deathC
And prov'd an early tombD
-
When on the breast we hungE
Our help was in the LordF
'Twas he first taught our infant tongueE
To form the lisping wordG
-
When in our blood we layH
He would not let us dieI
Because his love had fix'd a dayH
To bring salvation nighI
-
In childhood and in youthJ
His eye was on us stillK
Though strangers to his love and truthJ
And prone to cross his willK
-
And since his name we knewL
How gracious has he beenM
What dangers has he led us throughL
What mercies have we seenN
-
Now through another yearO
Supported by his careP
We raise our Ebenezer hereQ
The Lord has help'd thus farR
-
Our lot in future yearsS
Unable to foreseeT
He kindly to prevent our fearsS
Says Leave it all to meT
-
Yea Lord we wish to castU
Our cares upon thy breastV
Help us to praise thee for the pastU
And trust thee for the restV
