Amazing Grace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGH BIBI JKJK LMLM

Amazing grace how sweet the soundA
That sav'd a wretch like meB
I once was lost but now am foundA
Was blind but now I seeB
-
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fearC
And grace my fears reliev'dD
How precious did that grace appearC
The hour I first believ'dD
-
Thro' many dangers toils and snaresE
I have already comeF
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus farG
And grace will lead me homeH
-
The Lord has promis'd good to meB
His word my hope securesI
He will my shield and portion beB
As long as life enduresI
-
Yes when this flesh and heart shall failJ
And mortal life shall ceaseK
I shall possess within the veilJ
A life of joy and peaceK
-
This earth shall soon dissolve like snowL
The sun forbear to shineM
But God who call'd me here belowL
Will be for ever mineM
