Then And Now Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHBeneath her window in the fragrant night | A |
I half forget how truant years have flown | B |
Since I looked up to see her chamber light | A |
Or catch perchance her slender shadow thrown | B |
Upon the casement but the nodding leaves | C |
Sweep lazily across the unlit pane | D |
And to and fro beneath the shadowy eaves | C |
Like restless birds the breath of coming rain | D |
Creeps lilac laden up the village street | E |
When all is still as if the very trees | F |
Were listening for the coming of her feet | E |
That come no more yet lest I weep the breeze | F |
Sings some forgotten song of those old years | G |
Until my heart grows far too glad for tears | H |
