Apelles' Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBBBCCDDEE FF

Cupid and my Campaspe playedA
At cards for kisses Cupid paidA
He stakes his quiver bow and arrowsB
His mother's doves and team of sparrowsB
Loses them too then down he throwsB
The coral of his lip the roseB
Growing on's cheek but none knows howC
With these the crystal of his browC
And then the dimple on his chinD
All these did my Campaspe winD
And last he set her both his eyesE
She won and Cupid blind did riseE
-
O Love has she done this to theeF
What shall alas become of meF
