Slip lightly from my heart away | F |
- | |
The emptiness of social strife | G |
The pettiness of human souls | H |

The dawns and dusks of countless lives | M |
- | |
Why grieve dear heart Oblivion deep | N |
Will soon enshroud both friend and foe | O |

Must join the hosts of long ago | O |
Whose transient hours of smiles and tears | P |
Make up earth's wilderness of years | Q |
- | |
The sunset's glowing embers die | R |
The snow peaks lose their crimson hue | S |
Through deepening shades the ruddy sky | R |
Burns slowly down to darkest blue | S |
Wherein a million worlds of light | T |
Announce the coming of the night | T |
- | |
I gaze and slowly my despair | U |
At human wretchedness and crime | V |
Gives place to hopes and visions fair | U |
So much may be evolved by time | V |
So much may yet men's souls surprise | W |
Beneath the splendor of God's skies | W |

Some day somewhere in realms afar | X |
His light may make all problems plain | Y |
And justice on some happier star | X |
May recompense this planet's pain | Y |

Grow lovely in life's afterglow | O |
