My Lost Friends Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HDHD IJIJ KLKL MNMN OBOB

One by one they have slipped from EarthA
And vanished into the depths of spaceB
And I beside my lonely hearthC
Find none to take their placeB
-
Never a word of fond farewellD
Fell from their lips ere they were goneE
Never a hint since then to tellD
If after night came dawnE
-
Latest of all to thus departF
Still is thy hand clasp warm in mineG
Wilt thou not tell me where thou artF
Canst thou impart no signG
-
Wild are the winds above thy graveH
Cold is the form I loved so wellD
But what to thee are storms that raveH
Or the snow that last night fellD
-
Out in the awful void of nightI
Numberless suns and planets rollJ
Has one of all those isles of lightI
Received thy homeless soulJ
-
Mute is the sky as an empty tombK
Trackless the path and all unknownL
What means this journey through its gloomK
Which each must make aloneL
-
Vain is the task I strive no moreM
To learn the secret of their fateN
Till sounds for me the muffled oarM
I can but hope and waitN
-
But well I know they have gone from meO
Into the silent depths of spaceB
Across a vast uncharted seaO
Whose shores I cannot traceB
