Lake Como In Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHEE IJIJKL

From Como's curving base of blueA
To where the snow lies cold and clearB
Ascends in steps of varied hueA
The pageant of the passing yearB
As scores of mountain sides unfoldC
Their gorgeous robes of red and goldC
-
Meanwhile where shore and lake uniteD
I see projected far belowE
A counterpart in colors brightD
Of snows that gleam and woods that glowE
Two pictures of an ideal landF
Divided by a single strandF
-
O matchless view thus doubly fairG
Impress thy beauty on my heartH
That when no longer really thereG
I still may see thee as thou artH
Alas that they should ever goE
Those steps of light those thrones of snowE
-
The day declines the colors paleI
The peaks will soon be ashen grayJ
Yet though the shades of night prevailI
The darkness hath not come to stayJ
And if no leaves of gold remainK
The sun will bring the Spring againL
