January In The Tremezzina Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABBBCC DDDEEEFF BBBGGGHH AAAIIIJJ KKKGGGLL

Day by dayA
As if in MayA
We sail Azzano's beautiful bayA
High and lowB
The mountains showB
Luminous fields of stainless snowB
But the air is soft and the sun is warmC
And the lake is free from wind and stormC
-
Far and nighD
Deep and highD
The Alps invade both lake and skyD
Base to baseE
Their forms we traceE
These in water those in spaceE
Duplicate peaks on single shoresF
As shadow sinks and substance soarsF
-
To and froB
We idly goB
Bidding our oarsmen lightly rowB
Here and thereG
Halting whereG
The vision seems supremely fairG
Happy to let our little boatH
In a flood of opaline splendor floatH
-
Far awayA
Seems to dayA
The clamorous world of work and playA
Ours indeedI
A different creedI
From that of the modern god of SpeedI
Whose converts suffer such grievous wasteJ
In strenuous labor and feverish hasteJ
-
East or westK
A tranquil nestK
When curfew rings is always bestK
A landscape fairG
A volume rareG
And a kindred heart one's peace to shareG
What is there better from life to takeL
In a sweet retreat on the Larian lakeL
