After The Vintage Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAAAB CDCCCD EFEEEF GHGGGH IJIIIJ KLKKKLHow can my vineyard's charm be told | A |
As it basks in the autumn haze | B |
The Frost King's touch so light and cold | A |
Like that of the Persian king of old | A |
Hath turned its roof from green to gold | A |
Till the hillside seems ablaze | B |
- | |
Threading its maze of arbors fair | C |
Under its saffron bowers | D |
I watch in the crisp November air | C |
Through vine framed openings here and there | C |
The ivied walls of castles rare | C |
And ruined Roman towers | D |
- | |
Sapphire blue is the cloudless sky | E |
White are the mountain walls | F |
Rainbow hued are the tints that lie | E |
Lavishly spread on the forests high | E |
Where leaves by millions flame and die | E |
As the chill of Autumn falls | F |
- | |
Over the slopes in sun and shade | G |
The terraced vines descend | H |
Like stately steps of a broad cascade | G |
Or an amphitheatre's seats arrayed | G |
In folds of sumptuous gold brocade | G |
Where red and amber blend | H |
- | |
I love to see from the rising sun | I |
Each terrace gain its crown | J |
When the splendid dawn hath just begun | I |
From the crest of the mountain it hath won | I |
To gild the vine rows one by one | I |
As the mellow glow creeps down | J |
- | |
And when the day's receding light | K |
Deserts the vale below | L |
I trace its noiseless upward flight | K |
Through darkening zones of foliage bright | K |
Till all the world is lost in night | K |
Save pyramids of snow | L |
