A Winter's Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJDJ KLKL

Into my garden sweet and fairA
Brightly the sun at noonday shinesB
Melting the frost from the wintry airA
Warming the trellis of leafless vinesB
-
Basking there in the genial heatC
South of my sheltering vineyard wallD
Strolling I dream in my lov'd retreatC
The smile of the sun god over allD
-
Far too early a shadow darkE
Cast by the neighboring mountain's crestF
Stealthily creeps across the parkE
Bringing a chill from the sombre westF
-
Little by little my sunlit spaceG
Shrinks to a narrowing path of lightH
Further and further with dread I traceG
The sure advance of approaching nightH
-
Soon will arrive its twilight pallI
Then as the potent change is feltJ
The fountain's drops will cease to fallD
And feathery films refuse to meltJ
-
But still in the solar warmth I waitK
The hand of my lov'd one clasped in mineL
Is that a tear It is growing lateK
And she asks how long the sun will shineL
