The Accession Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

As I was with Moses so I will be with thee I will not failA
thee nor forsake thee Joshua iB
-
-
The voice that from the glory cameC
To tell how Moses died unseenD
And waken Joshua's spear of flameC
To victory on the mountains greenD
Its trumpet tones are sounding stillE
When Kings or Parents pass awayF
They greet us with a cheering thrillE
Of power and comfort in decayF
-
Behind thus soft bright summer cloudG
That makes such haste to melt and dieB
Our wistful gaze is oft allowedG
A glimpse of the unchanging skyB
Let storm and darkness do their worstH
For the lost dream the heart may acheI
The heart may ache but may not burstH
Heaven will not leave thee nor forsakeI
-
One rock amid the weltering floodsJ
One torch in a tempestuous nightK
One changeless pine in fading woodsL
Such is the thought of Love and MightK
True Might and ever present LoveM
When death is busy near the throneN
Auth Sorrow her keen sting would proveO
On Monarchs orphaned and aloneN
-
In that lorn hour and desolateP
Who could endure a crown but HeQ
Who singly bore the world's sad weightR
Is near to whisper Lean on MeQ
Thy days of toil thy nights of careS
Sad lonely dreams in crowded hallT
Darkness within while pageants glareS
Around the Cross supports them allT
-
Oh Promise of undying LoveM
While Monarchs seek thee for reposeU
Far in the nameless mountain coveV
Each pastoral heart thy bounty knowsU
Ye who in place of shepherds trueW
Come trembling to their awful trustX
Lo here the fountain to imbueW
With strength and hope your feeble dustX
-
Not upon Kings or Priests aloneN
The power of that dear word is spentY
It chants to all in softest toneN
The lowly lesson of ContentY
Heaven's light is poured on high and lowZ
To high and low Heaven's Angel spakeI
Resign thee to thy weal or woeZ
I ne'er will leave thee nor forsakeI
