And the contention was so sharp between them that theyA
departed asunder one from the other Acts xv CompareB
Tim iv Take Mark and bring him with thee for he isC
profitable to me for the ministryD
-
-
Oh who shall dare in this frail sceneE
On holiest happiest thoughts to leanE
On Friendship Kindred or on LoveF
Since not Apostles' hands can claspG
Each other in so firm a graspG
But they shall change and variance proveH
-
Yet deem not on such parting sadI
Shall dawn no welcome dear and gladI
Divided in their earthly raceJ
Together at the glorious goalK
Each leading many a rescued soulK
The faithful champions shall embraceJ
-
For e'en as those mysterious FourL
Who the bright whirling wheels upboreL
By Chebar in the fiery blastM
So on their tasks of love and praiseN
This saints of God their several waysN
Right onward speed yet join at lastM
-
And sometimes e'en beneath the moonO
The Saviour gives a gracious boonO
When reconciled Christians meetP
And face to face and heart to heartQ
High thoughts of holy love impartQ
In silence meek or converse sweetP
-
Companion of the Saints 'twas thineR
To taste that drop of peace divineR
When the great soldier of thy LordS
Called thee to take his last farewellT
Teaching the Church with joy to tellT
The story of your love restoredS
-
O then the glory and the blissU
When all that pained or seemed amissU
Shall melt with earth and sin awayA
When saints beneath their Saviour's eyeV
Filled with each other's companyD
Shall spend in love th' eternal dayA
