Peter seeing him saith to Jesus Lord and what shall thisA
man do Jesus saith unto him If I will that he tarry till IB
come what is that to thee follow thou MeC
St John xxiA
-
-
Lord and what shall this man doD
Ask'st thou Christian for thy friendE
If his love for Christ be trueD
Christ hath told thee of his endE
This is he whom God approvesA
This is he whom Jesus lovesA
-
Ask not of him more than thisA
Leave it in his Saviour's breastF
Whether early called to blissA
He in youth shall find his restF
Or armed in his station waitG
Till his Lord be at the gateG
-
Whether in his lonely courseA
Lonely not forlorn he stayH
Or with Love's supporting forceA
Cheat the toil and cheer the wayH
Leave it all in His high handI
Who doth hearts as streams commandI
-
Gales from Heaven if so He willJ
Sweeter melodies can wakeK
On the lonely mountain rillJ
Than the meeting waters makeK
Who hath the Father and the SonL
May be left but not aloneM
-
Sick or healthful slave or freeC
Wealthy or despised and poorN
What is that to him or theeC
So his love to Christ endureO
When the shore is won at lastP
Who will count the billows pastP
-
Only since our souls will shrinkQ
At the touch of natural griefR
When our earthly loved ones sinkQ
Lend us Lord Thy sure reliefR
Patient hearts their pain to seeC
And Thy grace to follow TheeC
