November Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLML

Red o er the forest peers the setting sunA
The line of yellow light dies fast awayB
That crown d the eastern copse and chill and dunA
Falls on the moor the brief November dayB
-
Now the tired hunter winds a parting noteC
And Echo bids good night from every gladeD
Yet wait awhile and see the calm leaves floatC
Each to his rest beneath their parent shadeD
-
How like decaying life they seem to glideE
And yet no second spring have they in storeF
And where they fall forgotten to abideE
Is all their portion and they ask no moreF
-
Soon o er their heads blithe April airs shall singG
A thousand wild flowers round them shall unfoldH
The green buds glisten in the dews of SpringG
And all be vernal rapture as of oldH
-
Unconscious they in waste oblivion lieI
In all the world of busy life aroundJ
No thought of them in all the bounteous skyI
No drop for them of kindly influence foundJ
-
Man s portion is to die and rise againK
Yet he complains while these unmurmuring partL
With their sweet lives as pure from sin and stainM
As his when Eden held his virgin heartL
