The voice that breathed o'er EdenA
That earliest wedding dayB
The primal marriage blessingC
It hath not passed awayB
Still in the pure espousalD
Of Christian man and maidE
The holy Three are with usF
The threefold grace is saidG

Be present aweful FatherH
To give away this brideI
As Eve thou gav'st to AdamJ
Out of his own pierced sideI

Be present Son of MaryK
To join their loving handsL
As thou didst bind two naturesM
In thine eternal bandsL

Be present holiest SpiritN
To bless them as they kneelD
As thou for Christ the BridegroomO
The heavenly Spouse dost sealD

O spread thy pure wing o'er themP
Let no ill power find placeQ
When onward to thine altarH
Their hallowed path they traceQ

To cast their crowns before theeK
In perfect sacrificeR
Till to the home of gladnessR
With Christ's own Bride they rise AmenS
