The Stirrup Cup Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DEDE FGFG GGCC

My short and happy day is doneA
The long and dreary night comes onB
And at my door the Pale Horse standsC
To carry me to unknown landsC
-
His whinny shrill his pawing hoofD
Sound dreadful as a gathering stormE
And I must leave this sheltering roofD
And joys of life so soft and warmE
-
Tender and warm the joys of lifeF
Good friends the faithful and the trueG
My rosy children and my wifeF
So sweet to kiss so fair to viewG
-
So sweet to kiss so fair to viewG
The night comes down the lights burn blueG
And at my door the Pale Horse standsC
To bear me forth to unknown landsC
