The skies are blue above my head	A
The prairie green below	B
And flickering o'er the tufted grass	C
The shifting shadows go	B
Vague sailing where the feathery clouds	D
Fleck white the tranquil skies	E
Black javelins darting where aloft	F
The whirring pheasant flies	E

A glimmering plain in drowsy trance	G
The dim horizon bounds	H
Where all the air is resonant	I
With sleepy summer sounds	H
The life that sings among the flowers	J
The lisping of the breeze	K
The hot cicala's sultry cry	L
The murmurous dream of bees	K

The butterfly a flying flower	M
Wheels swift in flashing rings	N
And flutters round his quiet kin	O
With brave flame mottled wings	N
The wild Pinks burst in crimson fire	M
The Phlox' bright clusters shine	P
And Prairie Cups are swinging free	Q
To spill their airy wine	P

And lavishly beneath the sun	R
In liberal splendor rolled	S
The Fennel fills the dipping plain	T
With floods of flowery gold	S
And widely weaves the Iron Weed	U
A woof of purple dyes	E
Where Autumn's royal feet may tread	A
When bankrupt Summer flies	E

In verdurous tumult far away	V
The prairie billows gleam	W
Upon their crests in blessing rests	X
The noontide's gracious beam	W
Low quivering vapors steaming dim	Y
The level splendors break	Z
Where languid Lilies deck the rim	Y
Of some land circled lake	Z

Far in the East like low hung clouds	D
The waving woodlands lie	L
Far in the West the glowing plain	T
Melts warmly in the sky	L
No accent wounds the reverent air	A2
