Remorse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH

Sad is the thought of sunniest daysA
Of love and rapture perishedB
And shine through memory's tearful hazeA
The eyes once fondliest cherishedB
Reproachful is the ghost of toysC
That charmed while life was wastedD
But saddest is the thought of joysC
That never yet were tastedD
-
Sad is the vague and tender dreamE
Of dead love's lingering kissesF
To crushed hearts haloed by the gleamE
Of unreturning blissesF
Deep mourns the soul in anguished prideG
For the pitiless death that won themH
But the saddest wail is for lips that diedG
With the virgin dew upon themH
