What Of The Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCCDEFCCGGGGHIHI JEEEFKKKFI

A SOUND of tumult troubles all the airA
Like the low thunders of a sultry skyB
Far rolling ere the downright lightnings glareA
The hills blaze red with warnings foes draw nighB
Treading the dark with challenge and replyB
Behold the burden of the prophet's visionC
The gathering hosts the Valley of DecisionC
Dusk with the wings of eagles wheeling o'erD
Day of the Lord of darkness and not lightE
It breaks in thunder and the whirlwind's roarF
Even so Father Let Thy will be doneC
Turn and o'erturn end what Thou hast begunC
In judgment or in mercy as for meG
If but the least and frailest let me beG
Evermore numbered with the truly freeG
Who find Thy service perfect libertyG
I fain would thank Thee that my mortal lifeH
Has reached the hour albeit through care and painI
When Good and Evil as for final strifeH
Close dim and vast on Armageddon's plainI
And Michael and his angels once againJ
Drive howling back the Spirits of the NightE
Oh for the faith to read the signs arightE
And from the angle of Thy perfect sightE
See Truth's white banner floating on beforeF
And the Good Cause despite of venal friendsK
And base expedients move to noble endsK
See Peace with Freedom make to Time amendsK
And through its cloud of dust the threshing floorF
Flailed by the thunder heaped with chaffless grainI
