The Rendition Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGHHGIAAI JKKJLMMLNOON

I HEARD the train's shrill whistle callA
I saw an earnest look beseechB
And rather by that look than speechB
My neighbor told me allA
And as I thought of LibertyC
Marched handcuffed down that sworded streetD
The solid earth beneath my feetD
Reeled fluid as the seaC
I felt a sense of bitter lossE
Shame tearless grief and stifling wrathF
And loathing fear as if my pathF
A serpent stretched acrossE
All love of home all pride of placeG
All generous confidence and trustH
Sank smothering in that deep disgustH
And anguish of disgraceG
Down on my native hills of JuneI
And home's green quiet hiding allA
Fell sudden darkness like the fallA
Of midnight upon noonI
And Law an unloosed maniac strongJ
Blood drunken through the blackness trodK
Hoarse shouting in the ear of GodK
The blasphemy of wrongJ
'O Mother from thy memories proudL
Thy old renown dear CommonwealthM
Lend this dead air a breeze of healthM
And smite with stars this cloudL
'Mother of Freedom wise and braveN
Rise awful in thy strength ' I saidO
Ah me I spake but to the deadO
I stood upon her graveN
