Hymn Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGDGDHCCC IJIJKLKLMNMN

O HOLY FATHER just and trueA
Are all Thy works and words and waysB
And unto Thee alone are dueA
Thanksgiving and eternal praiseB
As children of Thy gracious careC
We veil the eye we bend the kneeD
With broken words of praise and prayerC
Father and God we come to TheeD
For Thou hast heard O God of RightE
The sighing of the island slaveF
And stretched for him the arm of mightE
Not shortened that it could not saveF
The laborer sits beneath his vineG
The shackled soul and hand are freeD
Thanksgiving for the work is ThineG
Praise for the blessing is of TheeD
And oh we feel Thy presence hereH
Thy awful arm in judgment bareC
Thine eye hath seen the bondman's tearC
Thine ear hath heard the bondman's prayerC
Praise for the pride of man is lowI
The counsels of the wise are naughtJ
The fountains of repentance flowI
What hath our God in mercy wroughtJ
Speed on Thy work Lord God of HostsK
And when the bondman's chain is rivenL
And swells from all our guilty coastsK
The anthem of the free to HeavenL
Oh not to those whom Thou hast ledM
As with Thy cloud and fire beforeN
But unto Thee in fear and dreadM
Be praise and glory evermoreN
