Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFGHGIJIJKLKM NONOPAPAQOROOHOHSOSO OTOTUVFVJUST God and these are they | A |
Who minister at thine altar God of Right | B |
Men who their hands with prayer and blessing lay | A |
On Israel's Ark of light | B |
What preach and kidnap men | C |
Give thanks and rob thy own afflicted poor | D |
Talk of thy glorious liberty and then | C |
Bolt hard the captive's door | E |
What servants of thy own | F |
Merciful Son who came to seek and save | G |
The homeless and the outcast fettering down | H |
The tasked and plundered slave | G |
Pilate and Herod friends | I |
Chief priests and rulers as of old combine | J |
Just God and holy is that church which lends | I |
Strength to the spoiler thine | J |
Paid hypocrites who turn | K |
Judgment aside and rob the Holy Book | L |
Of those high words of truth which search and burn | K |
In warning and rebuke | M |
Feed fat ye locusts feed | N |
And in your tasselled pulpits thank the Lord | O |
That from the toiling bondman's utter need | N |
Ye pile your own full board | O |
How long O Lord how long | P |
Shall such a priesthood barter truth away | A |
And in Thy name for robbery and wrong | P |
At Thy own altars pray | A |
Is not Thy hand stretched forth | Q |
Visibly in the heavens to awe and smite | O |
Shall not the living God of all the earth | R |
And heaven above do right | O |
Woe then to all who grind | O |
Their brethren of a common Father down | H |
To all who plunder from the immortal mind | O |
Its bright and glorious crown | H |
Woe to the priesthood woe | S |
To those whose hire is with the price of blood | O |
Perverting darkening changing as they go | S |
The searching truths of God | O |
Their glory and their might | O |
Shall perish and their very names shall be | T |
Vile before all the people in the light | O |
Of a world's liberty | T |
Oh speed the moment on | U |
When Wrong shall cease and Liberty and Love | V |
And Truth and Right throughout the earth be known | F |
As in their home above | V |
