Clerical Oppressors Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFGHGIJIJKLKM NONOPAPAQOROOHOHSOSO OTOTUVFV

JUST God and these are theyA
Who minister at thine altar God of RightB
Men who their hands with prayer and blessing layA
On Israel's Ark of lightB
What preach and kidnap menC
Give thanks and rob thy own afflicted poorD
Talk of thy glorious liberty and thenC
Bolt hard the captive's doorE
What servants of thy ownF
Merciful Son who came to seek and saveG
The homeless and the outcast fettering downH
The tasked and plundered slaveG
Pilate and Herod friendsI
Chief priests and rulers as of old combineJ
Just God and holy is that church which lendsI
Strength to the spoiler thineJ
Paid hypocrites who turnK
Judgment aside and rob the Holy BookL
Of those high words of truth which search and burnK
In warning and rebukeM
Feed fat ye locusts feedN
And in your tasselled pulpits thank the LordO
That from the toiling bondman's utter needN
Ye pile your own full boardO
How long O Lord how longP
Shall such a priesthood barter truth awayA
And in Thy name for robbery and wrongP
At Thy own altars prayA
Is not Thy hand stretched forthQ
Visibly in the heavens to awe and smiteO
Shall not the living God of all the earthR
And heaven above do rightO
Woe then to all who grindO
Their brethren of a common Father downH
To all who plunder from the immortal mindO
Its bright and glorious crownH
Woe to the priesthood woeS
To those whose hire is with the price of bloodO
Perverting darkening changing as they goS
The searching truths of GodO
Their glory and their mightO
Shall perish and their very names shall beT
Vile before all the people in the lightO
Of a world's libertyT
Oh speed the moment onU
When Wrong shall cease and Liberty and LoveV
And Truth and Right throughout the earth be knownF
As in their home aboveV
