A Dream Of Summer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHE IHIHJEJE BKBKELEL

Bland as the morning breath of JuneA
The southwest breezes playB
And through its haze the winter noonA
Seems warm as summer's dayB
The snow plumed Angel of the NorthC
Has dropped his icy spearD
Again the mossy earth looks forthC
Again the streams gush clearD
-
The fox his hillside cell forsakesE
The muskrat leaves his nookF
The bluebird in the meadow brakesE
Is singing with the brookF
'Bear up O Mother Nature ' cryG
Bird breeze and streamlet freeH
'Our winter voices prophesyE
Of summer days to thee '-
-
So in those winters of the soulI
By bitter blasts and drearH
O'erswept from Memory's frozen poleI
Will sunny days appearH
Reviving Hope and Faith they showJ
The soul its living powersE
And how beneath the winter's snowJ
Lie germs of summer flowersE
-
The Night is mother of the DayB
The Winter of the SpringK
And ever upon old DecayB
The greenest mosses clingK
Behind the cloud the starlight lurksE
Through showers the sunbeams fallL
For God who loveth all His worksE
Has left His hope with allL
