The Wren Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDE FGFGHH IJEJKK LMNMEE ONJNPQ

Within the greenhouse dim and dampA
The heat floats like a cloudB
Pale rose leaves droop from the rust roofC
With rust edged roses bowedB
As I go inD
Out flies the startled wrenE
-
By the tall dark fir tree he singsF
Morn after morn stillG
Shy and bold he flits and singsF
Tinily sweet and shrillG
As I go outH
His song follows me aboutH
-
About the orchard under treesI
Beaded with cherries brightJ
Past the rat haunted HoneybourneE
And up those hills of lightJ
As up I goK
His notes more sweetly flowK
-
Or down those dark hills when night's thereL
Full of dark thoughts and deepM
A thin clear soundless music comesN
Like stars in broken sleepM
When I come downE
All those dark thoughts are flownE
-
And now that sweetness is more sweetO
Here where the aeroplanesN
Labouring and groaning in the heightJ
Lift their lifeless vansN
Sweet sweet to hearP
The far off wren singing clearQ
