The Valley Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJKL MNDO PQRD

Between the beechen hill and the green downA
The valley pastures sinkB
And the green river runs through their warm greenC
Northward into the seaD
-
Dark is the beechen hill these winter daysE
The trees swallow the lightF
And make an evening there when morning shinesG
And the down heaves to the southH
-
Only when the sun's low a fire creeps throughI
The dark of the beechen hillJ
While the green down misty from head to footK
Grows huge and dim with sleepL
-
Then in the valley by the yet shining riverM
Under the noisy elmsN
I know how like twin shadows over meD
Rising high east and westO
-
Are Love's dark hills quiet unchanging vastP
Sleeping beneath the starsQ
While I with those stars in my bosom shiningR
Move northward to the seaD
