The last last time	A
The last	B
All those last times have I lived through again	C
And every last renews itself in pain	D
Yes each returns and each returns in vain	D
You return not the last remains the last	B
And I remain to cast	B
Weak anchors of my love in shifting sands	E
Of faith	F
The anchors drag nothing I see save death	G

Together we	H
Talked and were glad I could not see	H
That one black gesture menaced you and me	H
We kissed and parted	I
I left you and was even merry hearted	I
And now my love is thwarted	I
That reaches back to you and searches round	J
And dares not look on that harsh turfless mound	J

We walked together and the air acold	J
Hummed shrill around the time that you	K
Walked heavily	H
And I dared not to see	H
Nor dared you then to speak of what must be	H
We knew not what the shut days would unfold	J
Nay could not know till all the days were told	J
But that last time we walked together and	J
And walk no more together nor clasp hand	J
In hand just stiffly as we used to do	K

O happy never in stealing dreams	L
We meet never again	C
I live by night the day's slow dying pain	D

That time is past yet in too golden day	J
My heart goes from me whispering	M
Where are you you you you	K
And comes back easeless to an easeless breast	J
But at night I rest	J
Dreamless as derelict ships ride out to sea	H
Empty and no bird even on the snapp'd mast	J
Pauses into oblivion her shadow's cast	J
Into the empty night goes lonely she	H
And into sleep go oh more lonely I	N
