The Lamp Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAD EFEEG HCEIJ EEKEL EMNEO

The lamp shone golden where she sleptA
Shining against deep folded shadowsB
There was no stir but her slow breathingC
Save when a long sigh creptA
Between her lipsD
-
Her hair spread dark in that faint lightE
Her shut eyes showed the long dark lashesF
Still now that with her laughter quiveredE
On the white sheet lay whiteE
And limp her handsG
-
Golden against the shadow shoneH
The lamp's small flame till dawn was brighteningC
And on the flame a gold beam slantedE
The shadows lingering onI
Grew faint and thinJ
-
Sleeping she murmured stirred and sighedE
A dream from her sleep vision fadedE
Her earthly eyes 'neath languid eyelidsK
Wakened her bosom criedE
Come back come backL
-
Come back my dream Rising she drestE
Her beauty's lamp with cunning fingersM
She had the look of birds a flutterN
Round dewy trees with breastE
Throbbing with songO
