Snows Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJHAHKHHLMHNow the long bearded chilly fingered winter | A |
Over the green fields sweeps his cloak and leaves | B |
Its whiteness there It caught on the wild trees | C |
Shook whiteness on the hedges and left bare | D |
South sloping corners and south fronting smooth | E |
Barks of tall beeches swaying 'neath their whiteness | F |
So gently that the whiteness does not fall | G |
The ash copse shows all white between gray poles | H |
The oaks spread arms to catch the wandering snow | I |
But the yews I wondered to see their dark all white | J |
To see the soft flakes fallen on those grave deeps | H |
Lying there not burnt up by the yews' slow fire | A |
Could Time so whiten all the trembling senses | H |
The youth the fairness the all challenging strength | K |
And load even Love's grave deeps with his barren snows | H |
Even so And what remains | H |
The hills of thought | L |
That shape Time's snows and melt them and lift up | M |
Green and unchanging to the wandering stars | H |
