Happiness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNBN MAOP OOOO OOQO OORO

I have found happiness who looked not for itA
There was a green fresh hedgeB
And willows by the river sideC
And whistling sedgeB
-
The heaviness I felt was all aroundD
No joy sang in the windE
Only dull slow life everywhereF
And in my mindE
-
Then from the sedge a bird cried and all changedG
Heaviness turned to mirthH
The willows the stream's cheek caressedI
The sun the earthH
-
What was it in the bird's song worked such changeJ
The grass was wonderfulK
I did not dream such beauty wasL
In things so dullK
-
What was it in the bird's song gave the waterM
That living sentient lookN
Lent the rare brightness to the hedgeB
That sweetness shookN
-
Down on the green path by the running waterM
Or the small daisies litA
With light of the white northern starsO
In dark skies setP
-
What was it made the whole world marvellousO
Mere common things were joysO
The cloud running upon the grassO
Children's faint noiseO
-
The trees that grow straight up and stretch wide armsO
The snow heaped in the skiesO
The light falling so simply on allQ
My lifted eyesO
-
That all this startling aching beauty sawO
I felt the sharp excessO
Of joy like the strong sun at noonR
Insupportable blissO
