You Charm'd Me Not With That Fair Face Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HGHG

You charm'd me not with that fair faceA
Though it was all divineB
To be another's is the graceA
That makes me wish you mineB
-
The Gods and Fortune take their partC
Who like young monarchs fightD
And boldly dare invade that heartC
Which is another's rightD
-
First mad with hope we undertakeE
To pull up every barF
But once possess'd we faintly makeE
A dull defensive warG
-
Now every friend is turn'd a foeH
In hope to get our storeG
And passion makes us cowards growH
Which made us brave beforeG
