Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEFGG HCDDIIJ KKLLMN OOPP QQCC RRDDCC

CREATOR SPIRIT by whose aidA
The world's foundations first were laidA
Come visit every pious mindB
Come pour thy joys on human kindB
From sin and sorrow set us freeC
And make thy temples worthy theeC
-
O source of uncreated lightD
The Father's promised ParacleteD
Thrice holy fount thrice holy fireE
Our hearts with heavenly love inspireF
Come and thy sacred unction bringG
To sanctify us while we singG
-
Plenteous of grace descend from highH
Rich in thy sevenfold energyC
Thou strength of his Almighty handD
Whose power does heaven and earth commandD
Proceeding Spirit our defenceI
Who dost the gifts of tongues dispenseI
And crown'st thy gift with eloquenceJ
-
Refine and purge our earthly partsK
But oh inflame and fire our heartsK
Our frailties help our vice controlL
Submit the senses to the soulL
And when rebellious they are grownM
Then lay thy hand and hold them downN
-
Chase from our minds the infernal foeO
And peace the fruit of love bestowO
And lest our feet should step astrayP
Protect and guide us in the wayP
-
Make us eternal truths receiveQ
And practise all that we believeQ
Give us thyself that we may seeC
The Father and the Son by theeC
-
Immortal honour endless fameR
Attend the Almighty Father's nameR
The Saviour Son be glorifiedD
Who for lost man's redemption diedD
And equal adoration beC
Eternal Paraclete to theeC
