Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEFGG HCDDIII IIJJKL MMNN OOII PPDDII

Creator Spirit by whose aidA
The world's foundations first were laidA
Come visit ev'ry pious mindB
Come pour thy joys on human kindB
From sin and sorrow set us freeC
And make thy temples worthy TheeC
-
O Source of uncreated LightD
The Father's promis'd ParacleteD
Thrice Holy Fount thrice Holy FireE
Our hearts with heav'nly love inspireF
Come and thy Sacred Unction bringG
To sanctify us while we singG
-
Plenteous of grace descend from highH
Rich in thy sev'n fold energyC
Thou strength of his Almighty HandD
Whose pow'r does heav'n and earth commandD
Proceeding Spirit our DefenceI
Who do'st the gift of tongues dispenceI
And crown'st thy gift with eloquenceI
-
Refine and purge our earthly partsI
But oh inflame and fire our heartsI
Our frailties help our vice controlJ
Submit the senses to the soulJ
And when rebellious they are grownK
Then lay thy hand and hold 'em downL
-
Chase from our minds th' Infernal FoeM
And peace the fruit of love bestowM
And lest our feet should step astrayN
Protect and guide us in the wayN
-
Make us Eternal Truths receiveO
And practise all that we believeO
Give us thy self that we may seeI
The Father and the Son by theeI
-
Immortal honour endless fameP
Attend th' Almighty Father's nameP
The Saviour Son be glorifiedD
Who for lost Man's redemption diedD
And equal adoration beI
Eternal Paraclete to theeI
