The Beautiful Lady Of The May Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDD AEEFFGH AEEIIGH

IA
A quire of bright beauties in spring did appearB
To choose a May lady to govern the yearB
All the nymphs were in white and the shepherds in greenC
The garland was given and Phillis was queenC
But Phillis refused it and sighing did sayD
I'll not wear a garland while Pan is awayD
-
IIA
While Pan and fair Syrinx are fled from our shoreE
The Graces are banished and Love is no moreE
The soft god of pleasure that warmed our desiresF
Has broken his bow and extinguished his firesF
And vows that himself and his mother will mournG
Till Pan and fair Syrinx in triumph returnH
-
IIIA
Forbear your addresses and court us no moreE
For we will perform what the Deity sworeE
But if you dare think of deserving our charmsI
Away with your sheephooks and take to your armsI
Then laurels and myrtles your brows shall adornG
When Pan and his son and fair Syrinx returnH
